The «Gîte en Paille» in Roucollias is situated in the commune of Peyzac - Le Moustier, one of the famous places in the Dordogne for its prehistoric sites and the 55000 years old troglodyte site of the Roque Saint-Christophe. 221 meters above sea level, halfway between Sarlat-La Canéda and Les Eyzies de Tayac, Roucollias' hill towers above the valley of the Vézère river. Without mentioning all the castles and historical villages around, almost all the archaeological sites of the Perigord (and more specific the Perigord noir) are to be found in this valley, also known as the «Valley of Mankind» (UNESCO protected). Therefore the «Gîte en Paille» in Roucollias is perfectly located: in the midst of all the sites that make this region so fascinating and isolated enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of mother nature! The idyllic place for tourism as well as peaceful walks in the forests around ; see also (here for more information).
