space guillemet Welcome to The «Gîte en Paille»,
Your organic holidayhome in the Dordogne !

«The Gîte en Paille» is synonymous with...

Relaxation, well-being, peace and quite, walks in the nature around, leisure in the pool, ecological equipment, Orgnic vegetable and herbs garden, eco-friendly environment, a house mindful of and suitable for people with reduced mobility, the ideal area to discover the «Valley of Mankind» region (see also below).

Come and enjoy the Dordogne region in a charming and organic atmosphere: «the Gite en Paille» as its name already tells in French, was built of straw-bales between Autumn 2010 and Summer 2011. However the architecture is the traditional one, the typical "Périgourdine" style with a touch of 18th century. We are organic fans and we'd like to show you that you can experience and enjoy comfort, modernity and tradition in just one cottage while automatically doing some good for Mother Nature!

The «Gîte en Paille» in Roucollias is situated in the commune of Peyzac - Le Moustier, one of the famous places in the Dordogne for its prehistoric sites and the 55000 years old troglodyte site of the Roque Saint-Christophe. 221 meters above sea level, halfway between Sarlat-La Canéda and Les Eyzies de Tayac, Roucollias' hill towers above the valley of the Vézère river. Without mentioning all the castles and historical villages around, almost all the archaeological sites of the Perigord (and more specific the Perigord noir) are to be found in this valley, also known as the «Valley of Mankind» (UNESCO protected). Therefore the «Gîte en Paille» in Roucollias is perfectly located: in the midst of all the sites that make this region so fascinating (Lascaux, Le Moustier, Cap Blanc...) and isolated enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of mother nature! The idyllic place for tourism as well as peaceful walks in the forests around ; see also (here for more information). back to the top!
